I really wanted to love this dress! I am just under 6' tall, hourglass size 22.
I have been lamenting the lack of silk dresses in my size, so when I came across this pretty maxi, I plunked down my $317 dollars and called it sold.
When I received my MUCH anticipated dress, I was shocked to see it crammed in my mailbox. In a blue plastic bag, like clearance sale free shipping, blue plastic bag. The dress was sufficiently wrinkled that I was going to need to have it dry cleaned and pressed before I even wore it. With all the beautiful pleating, an extra $20 for sure. So there goes strike 1.
I immediately try the dress on. So here's what I found interesting (and by interesting, I mean unbelievably unfortunate). The garment it made of a decent silk. It's a good weight, slightly heavier than linen, which I find ideal in silk garments. However, the top of the dress, from waistline to shoulder, was straining from the weight of the skirt. No underpinning or structure to support the weight of ankle length, pleated, heavier than linen, silk skirt. So disappointed! So there goes strike 2. I figured I'd give this dress one more shot, and I took it to my tailor. I was hoping she could fix the bulge in the placket (or button cover) that was right where the top was sewn to the skirt. She tried everything, and nothing would make it go away. When I told her what the dress cost, she recommended I just return it. We shouldn't have to work that hard to make this dress what it should have been in the beginning. Strike 3.
So, again. I really, really wanted to love this dress. But in the end, I just couldn't.
It's been a week since I mailed it back and I haven't seen an email of receipt for return, but the FAQ's indicate 2+ weeks for returns. Minus $7 for return shipping, so we'll see.
How does it fit? Too Big
Overall Quality? Less than Expected
